Richard F Smith

Richard is a chartered building services engineer with over 30 years of experience. He is the Chair of Carbon Critical Buildings for the Atkins Group and Vice Chair of the Emirates Green Building Council. For the past decade Richard has led the design of large complex building and small scale urban projects and has specialised in the delivery of low energy integrated design solutions. He still practices as an Engineer in the commercial and industrial sectors and is able to bring his experience and innovation to find solutions to complex questions.

Richard also leads a team of specialists in the Middle East region who provide professional services for sustainability, building physics, vertical transportation, acoustics, fire engineering and ICT-S.

His first role in the Middle East started in 1996 where until 1999, he delivered the technology packages for the Burj Al Arab. He returned in 2001 to the Sultanate of Oman to deliver the design for the prestigious Barr Al Jissah resort and in 2003 transferred to Dubai to take up a regional role for building services and also lead a number of large projects including the new ‘The Address’ hotel in Dubai.

Following a career working for international contractors and consultants in the UK, Europe and Russia, Andy is now entering his tenth year in the Middle East. He is involved in projects in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Yemen and Bahrain.

During this time Andy has worked in senior positions for major consultancy practices: as Head of the Mechanical Department for Omrania & Associates in Riyadh, and as the Head of Building Services for both KEO International in Doha and Halcrow in Dubai. He is presently the Building Services Principal for Sonnel Design Management based in Dubai.

Sonnel Design Management is an integrated consultancy service in Architecture and Building Services, delivering concept design, design management, construction and operation of buildings and developments.

His experience covers building services and includes large chilled water installations and district cooling systems for new towns, university campuses and educational facilities, as well as large mixed use developments. Andy has a keen interest in the application of energy efficient building design.

Dr. Davar Abi-Zadeh is a technical director and Arup Fellow with a global technical leadership responsibility. He has over 30 years of experience in the technical management, design, specification and commissioning of mechanical systems in a broad range of industrial and commercial buildings, including district cooling and heating.

Davar’s particular skill and expertise is in the design of themo-fluid systems, air movement, aerodynamic analysis, air filtration, cooling systems, compressed air plants, steam, water treatment, monitoring and control systems, instrumentation, piping, fluid distribution systems, energy management, and HVAC Systems.


AdibMoubadder

Adib Moubadder

Adib Moubadder currently serves as both the Director of Facilities at Union Properties and acting General Manager of Emicool. His work at Union Properties has included enhancing the strategic planning and optimized operation of asset lifecycles within projects, and achieving sustainable strength in energy savings, resulting in Union Properties receiving the Emirates Energy Award 2007, under the patronage of H.H. Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Mr El Moubadder’s has considerable experience in the area of building facilities management, having previously worked for the Jumeirah Group and across their hotels. He was also appointed technical consultant to review the infrastructure layout of the Madinat Jumeirah.

His present role requires Mr El Moubadder to involve himself in projects from the design stage, acting as technical consultant for all facilities management activities taking place in projects such as Motor City, Midriff, the Green Community, and the UP Index at DIFC.


Tim griffiths

Tim founded the Chescor Group in 1987 and has a 35-year career in international finance, as a professional accountant and corporate and project finance advisor. Over the past decade, he has led all Chescor Capital’s assignments for Tabreed, one of the world’s largest district cooling companies with 36 operating plants supplying over 360,000 tons. Our work has involved raising equity and debt, creating joint ventures, selling assets and advising on Tabreed’s overall funding strategy. Completed transactions exceed $1.5 billion, including equity instruments, syndicated debt and capital markets instruments such as sukuk (Islamic Bonds). Tim is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales, a Member of the Corporate Finance Faculty, a Member of the Securities Institute and registered with the Financial Services Authority in the UK. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from the University of Bristol, England.
